The journey to my business It started simply: I wanted a sheath myself. But not just a cumbersome holder to merely hide the blade and do nought more. I set down my wants, found that no sheath on the face of the market met them, and set out to design one myself. I love practical things - and the combination of these two facts turned the need for sheath into a chase for ultimate functionality. What a ride it was - and remains to be! Never in my years as a university researcher have I felt so scientific as when I was drawing drafts for actual usage - not just to be read, appraised by the scientific community, and ignored by city officials. Unbothered by historical accuracy, I set my goals toward achieving customisation and practical functionality that no other sheath on the market offered. Today, after many questions like “Where can I get such a piece?” I can at last answer a wider audience: right here on this website! Though not the very same as the original - for my own experience pointed out some bits to upgrade. Now, through trials and tinkering, my design has been reborn: lighter, faster to craft, and even more practical. If you fancy some feature not yet offered in my current versions, feel free to challenge my wits with another achievement to unlock! Coming soon: the option to draw from the back - featured in my original version - now being refined to make the price tag more affordable... For now? Wander yonder to the store and see what awaits!
My HEMA path Sticks and stones are yet to break my bones, but at the age of 10, an enthusiastic smack from older brother - delivered with a wooden branch on a winter’s day back then, when winter could still freeze them fingers - certainly felt close enough. Yet, such frivolousness could not sway me from looking for a fencing school nearby. Long have I searched… until, at long last in the year 2018, fate answered - though, as it often happens - not quite where it was expected. For the place of discovery was far from my motherland: all the way in Tampere, Finland. One fine day, strolling the local park on a bike like a true Finn, I paid little heed to two guys boxing close to my bike lane. Until one of them turned his back on me. And there, on his shirt, I noticed those fateful words: HEMA TAMPERE. Brakes squeeled, and before the boxing duo knew it, I stopped their match to interrogate. Where? When? How long? I will be there. And so I was. I joined the next training. Learnt my first steely swings. And got encouraged to look once again for a club, when I return from my research trip in Finland to my home country: Slovakia. The same year, upon returning, I found out that Guild Terra de Selinan, located in Žilina, had finally stopped pretending to train only stage fighting. I applied, and since then, I have trained (mostly but not only) in Žilina, Prague and Bratislava. During my active fencing years, I earned all four kinds of medals - from golden and silver medals at smaller tournaments, through bronze at tournament in continuous fencing, to the potato medal for fourth place, earned at the prestigious highest category for longsword fencing at Bratislava Fecht 2024. Due to various reasons, I left the halls in 2024, but I hope to keep appearing at tournaments: as a referee, as a tutor, as a craftsman, offering my creations directly to the fencers, and maybe even as a competitor still. Will I see you daring your way through the opponents too?
